Most prolific post season run in sports history! (OK, that’s one phrase I guess).

The boys kick things off in Boston tonight against a superior pitcher. If they make it 22 out of 23 tonight, all the momentum will be with the Rockies and there is serious possibility of a complete post-season sweep. GO ROCKS!! Love you guys

Hiding from the rain pre-race, originally uploaded by dzvette53.

So we braved the cold and survived the half-marathon (well I survived it in about 2 hours 4 minutes, Shannon ran it in an hour and 42 minutes). It was cold and nasty, so much so the only pictures we took were these two in the car before we got out in the rain to head for the starting line.

Running 13.1 miles was probably the most physically strenuous thing I have ever done, but it was worth it. Its cool to know I could go from barely running around the block to 13.1 miles in 9 months (only to turn around and have a girl kick your ass, haha)

Birthday Date in NYC, originally uploaded by dzvette53.

So, Shannon’s birthday was this week, and to celebrate her and I spent last weekend in what every New Yorker simply calls “the city”. We had a fantastic time. We stayed on the Upper East Side in Manhattan and hit up a bunch of cool places. We found a killer Thai restaurant, a wonderful little Italian lunch spot, and Vietnamese subs among others. We also had a complete walking tour of Manhattan and a good long run in Central Park.

Which brings me to the next topic. I’m off to bed as we are both running in the Denver Half Marathon tomorrow. Yes me, somehow attempt to run 13.1 miles. Hope I make it through it but I will be so proud when I finally cross the finish line, to see Shannon, who will have already been there for like a half hour (proud of her I mean of course, not me. Just glad I’m still alive)!

If you want to check a few other photos… they are in a my Birthday in New York Flickr Set.

Paul Campaign Raises Over $5,000,000 In Third Quarter

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA - The Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign raised $5,080,000 during the third quarter of 2007. That is an impressive 114 percent increase from the second quarter.

Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.

“Dr. Paul’s message is freedom, peace and prosperity,” said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul’s message.”

Ron Paul’s 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney’s fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.

So the Democrats are virtually all running on the platform “Bush as an idiot for getting us into Iraq”. Lets leave out the fact for the minute that most of them voted FOR the war (even if based misinformation), but they obviously all want to leverage the fact 70% of the country is worn out with the war. But when pinned down in the debate the other night, not one (not even one) of the top four candidates would answer affirmatively that they would guarantee they would get our troops out of Iraq.

So, I’m listening to Air America radio on the way home the other night (basically liberal talk radio station) and one of their most popular talk show host hosts (Rush’s liberal counterpart really) is totally pissed and expressed how abandoned she felt that not one of those candidates guaranteed troop removal.

Then there were the Republican debates where not one candidate would guarantee they wouldn’t give all illegal immigrants currently in the States amnesty. And the same sorts of feelings are expressed on the conservative talk radio how they feel abandoned that no one would stand up for this.

Here is the problem. There is one candidate that has the BACKBONE to guarantee BOTH of these things if everyone would stop acting like children, following their party’s one or two top candidates, think for themselves, and stand up and spread the word. That candidate is, of course, Ron Paul… The candidate with only a 3% of the Republican primary vote on his side.

The American people are sheep… and it really makes my heart break.
