Here is just what market place needs… a “Hugo”. I mean seriously, the only place you could get a drink this size was the Double Big Gulp at 7-11 but you did have to get out of your car and walk inside for that. Now you can conveniently pull through the drive-thru and get 42 oz of goodness without ever taking a step.

McDonald’s has been struggling to give themselves an image makeover for the last several years… they’ve cut the “supersize” menu and added salads and fruit to the menu. But, I’m not sure it does you a lot of good to eat a salad if you get it with a “Hugo”. The Hugo is McDonald’s new drink size, available only in certain markets, that is 42 oz and when filled with regular soda weighs in at an impressive 410 calories!

Of course, diet soda has 0 calories right… so as long as you order your Hugo in diet all is good right?

Did I mention I like Ron Paul? Let me not be unclear this time. He is the champion of the constitution… at least as far as I can tell. The message is right on target and he is the ONLY politician I have ever actually been excited about in my life. I feel like he is the one candidate that supports both freedom and personal responsibility. He personifies what I am coining the “compassionate capitalist”, a guy like me that think capitalism and the free markets are great but sending people to die in unwinable wars is not… that capitalism creates prosperity and in reality prosperity can BUY things like an end to poverty, a clean environment, and a peaceful world.

Just watch another video.

Did I mention he is the only candidate that doesn’t accept any special interest money? Well he just won my money. I’m on board until the end comes. Please consider the same.

So, as you will see down the right side of this page now, you can check out my running stats. This is super cool! What it does is there is a sensor in my Nike running shoes that tracks all of these statisitics by sending data to my iPod which I am listnening to as I run. Once my run is complete, I take the iPod and connect to my computer where iTunes sends the run data from my iPod to the Nike+ running website. I then used a cool plugin for my blog to pull the stats from Nike+ and display them down the right side of this page.

I am hoping to use it as a little bit more motivation to run further and faster as I know my few readers will be watching my progress. So, with that I am announcing the reason for the need for motivation and that is my participation in my first (ever) race. The reason I need the motivation is because it is going to be a killer race… the Park to Park 10 Miler, which is a 10 mile run around downtown Denver this Labor Day (September 3). I know 10 miles might not seem to far to some but let us be very clear. I hadn’t run ACROSS THE STREET in 10 years until about 6 months ago and right now my best run still isn’t real close to 10. This would be at least an hour and a half of running straight if I maintain a faster pace than I am averaging now.

So, why would a guy pick a 10 mile race for his first rather than an easier 10K or a 5K? Well, because this particular race is to benefit pancreatic cancer and pancreatic got one of my very few most favorite people ever. She battled way harder through that than I would have to to run 10 miles a thousand times. Hopefully I can get some others to run/walk the 10 miles for the cause with me, let me know if interested.

This first one is for you Grandma, love you!
