Well… in case you missed international news yesterday (or it was buried by Paris and the ‘roid rage wrestler), Iranians are up in arms in Tehran. Because the Americans oppressed them somehow? Not this time my friends. They are totally pissed, at their own president, because the government gave them two hours notice (yes, two hours) and then implemented rationing of petrol to 3 liters per person per day.
Wait, does this seem odd to anybody but me? They are rationing GASOLINE in the Middle East! Not only the Middle East but in the second largest oil producer in OPEC! And they are rationing it to an amount per day that wouldn’t even get me to work in the morning, let alone home.
Yet somehow, according to big Rudy and a bunch of the other terror-crazy politicians, this country is going to be our next big nuclear threat? I guess I am not scared. Not because they might someday, maybe, make one nuclear weapon and we have thousands, but because they can’t get gasoline in people’s cars when the biggest oil fields in the world are in the backyard. What are they going do, send that nuke over on camel back?
It seems to me from everything I read, including stories from independent western travelers who have visited Iran, that the Iranian people are totally cool. For those who may not be aware, they aren’t even the same branch of Islam as those that causes all the terror problems. So, yes, President However-you-say-it might be a nut job but why are we dragging the rest of Iran into our problems? I think maybe we’re jealous that they are smart enough to WANT to run their country on nuclear power, when we just can’t figure that out ourselves.
Lets all take a deep breathe, and ease up off the poor Iranians for a bit. They all can only travel about 6 miles from home before they will be too far away to get back home on the day’s fuel ration for awhile anyway.
Andrew met Kirby last night… Shannon’s boyfriend and my best friend from high school seemed to get along just fine. Haha…. I have no idea why Andrew thought the hardwood floor was the best spot to sleep but he did.
And clearly you can see why you want to be careful if you can’t make it as late into the night as Kirby can.
It is no secret that I have felt for sometime betrayed or alienated by the mainstream political parties. That being the case, I think it is only prudent that I explore all options for my vote in the very very large array of potential candidates, both Democratic and Republican. Considering myself to be independent minded, I have no issue honestly registering to vote as a member of any particular party and I figure it therefore follows that I would register for which ever party had my favorite candidate so that I could cast my vote to help their particular primary race.
Well, I strongly dislike the majority of Republican candidates, especially the front runner ex-New York City mayor. I am also turned off entirely by the majority Democratic candidates, especially the New York state senator. But there is one candidate in the masses that just seems outstanding to me and that candidate is Congressman (Dr.) Ron Paul. I invite you to watch the following video:
And it is not just me… Congressman Paul is generating real buzz, among both Democrats and Republicans. A guy that just wants to protect my personal liberties, reduce spending, and quit sending my friends to die in wars. I ask that you listen to Dr. Paul through the remainder of the primaries. I mean, he even handled an interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show well:
I once posted a blog entitled “Backbone for President in ‘08″ that mentioned John McCain. What a mistake that was. But… now I am confident. What could possibly take more backbone than running for the Republican nomination on an anti-war platform in today’s America? Most importantly, for now I remain registered as a Republican so I can do my little piece to shake things up by pushing Ron Paul.
If you want more information on the man… I suggest Wikipedia, as well as his campaign site of course which is http://www.ronpaul2008.com/
Hello everyone! Just thought I’d give an update about what’s going on in my life, because I have been in hiding for the last few weeks.
Unfortunately, right now I’m still going to school full time. 18 credit hours through the summer is definately a bummer. I spend my free time remembering fondly fifth grade (as you must know, it was my favorite year) and especially those summers as a kid. I’m finishing up the program and by August will be a licensed Paramedic. I can honestly say, I thought I was going to breeze through this… but IT’S HARD! My class started off with 55 students and we are now down to 27. My calculus and chemistry classes didn’t even have that high of a flunk out rate! In order to finish up the program I also have to finish up a ton of ride and clinical time. Some days I ride on the ambulance and they go just great and I think I really made a difference, other days I can’t remember my drug dosages and mess up my assessments or miss an irregular heart rhythm, but I guess that’s why we get the experience now. Overall, I think the unpredictability is pretty fun.
On top of that I have been working at Ace Hardware still and teaching classes at Hobby Lobby, trying to earn a few extra bucks to try and make the very rare free time I have that much sweeter.
My cat is doing just fine, although she wishes I was home more to pet and play with her. My friends? Sarah’s working for Dad at Ace and doing just fine and Lindy’s at home in Iowa (hopefully I’ll get to play with her this summer some!)
My boyfriend, Andrew, is getting ready to move to Colorado! Exciting for him, bummer for me. I guess it’s a good way to not get distracted for finals and such, but also really crappy because all my college friends are at their separate homes and now he’s gone too! He’s going to be working for Dad, too (DAD!? HOW DID YOU STEAL ALL MY FRIENDS AWAY?!?) and hopefully having an exciting summer. Everyone be nice to him, because I promise his family will be here (still) taking care of me! I think it was his evil trick to get me to come home and visit more often, but I suppose it’s going to work because I’m going to be home the weekend of the 16th.
Other than that, my apartment’s a mess, my refrigerator’s empty, all of my clothes are dirty, and I could use a lot more sleep, but I’m doing just fine out here living my life day to day! I’ll keep you posted on any exciting news.
